Scented Hand Sanitizer Rage
“I Didn’t Survive a Pandemic Just to Smell Like Grandma’s Bathroom.”
Paul Trencher, 44, experienced what experts are calling “olfactory identity collapse” after applying complimentary hand sanitizer at a gas station and discovering it was lavender-scented. Within moments, he demanded to see the manager, filed a Yelp complaint, and began drafting a letter to the Department of Homeland Security.
“I asked for sanitizer. I got aromatherapy,” said Paul, his hands visibly moist and trembling. “I smell like regret and potpourri.”
Other customers tried to de-escalate. One offered Paul a vanilla-scented wipe. He screamed, “That’s worse!”
Paul now advocates for “masculine sanitization options,” launching a line of cologne-infused gels with scents like “Grill Sweat,” “Debt Forgiveness,” and “Used Leather Jacket.”
The gas station replaced the lavender dispenser with an unscented one. It was stolen within hours by a man wearing cargo shorts and muttering “freedom.”
Paul’s lawsuit is pending. His TikTok rants, however, have gained 400K followers.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
